Over 40 unique wineries
Though Florida is not known for wineries, we have over 40 wineries in our state that are wine producers. Most of these wineries produce a variety of wine products ranging from southern Muscadine grapes, the only natural grape that grows strongly in the south, to Hybrid developed grapes developed by schools such as the University of Florida in Gainesville and FAMU in Tallahassee. Wines are also produced in Florida from traditional grape products brought in from Europe, California, and other locations across the United States. Wineries such as Lakeridge winery in Clermont (Near Orlando) and Tarpon Springs Castle winery.
Florida's Certified Florida Farm Winery program focuses on specific wineries in the state that produce wines from products they produce. For many wineries these include the Southern Muscadine grape (Not to be confused with the Muscado). Many other wineries have turned to developing Fruit wines from products that grow well here including Blueberries, Strawberries, Mango, Avocado, and Citrus products. Though not traditional grape wines, many of these wineries have grown strong thanks to the popularity of these products.
